Would you also like to help your clients navigate easily to the specific sections of your catalogue? What about driving traffic directly from Social Media to a specific category inside the catalogue itself. Then read on.
Navigation Bar
To enable the navigation bar, find your publication and click "Edit".
Find the navigation bar, click on it, and tick "Enable" in the right side menu.
Make sure the sections all have titles. To do this click once on each section and fill out the "Title" input field in the right side menu.
Drive traffic to section
If we want to drive traffic directly to a specific section inside the catalogue, we can do this with an extension to the URL you use for the link destination.
First we need to find the extension. Start by clicking on the section title in the navigation bar:
The editor will now navigate to this section.
If you look in the URL of your browser, the section ID will be visible as an extension to the URL. Find the "#" and copy+paste everything to the right of this sign (remember to include the # itself).
Paste this extension in the end of the URL you use to drive traffic to the catalogue, and the user will automatically be navigated to the section.
You can find the URL if you click "Settings" on the publication you are working in, and find the "Standalone" link.
Now add the extension to the Standalone link. In this example it now looks like this:
https://publish.aviou.io/sectionlinktest#dc-f26008b1-f350-47ca-bf48-3385461cd5ba
Note: If you have the catalogue embedded into your own website, use the destination and add the extension to that URL instead.
As an example, if your catalogue is embedded into www.example.com/test, simply add the extension and the result will be this:
www.example.com/test#dc-f26008b1-f350-47ca-bf48-3385461cd5ba
You can also find the Section ID simply by right clicking on the section.
Just remember, if you need to use the Section ID to drive traffic, you need to add the following before the ID itself:
#dc-
